Design to Real Estate - A Natural Morphosis
Judy can't remember when her interested in design and contstruction began; however, her earliest memories are of standing at her grandmother's treadle sewing machine and pumping the pedal with one foot and sewing her aunt's rags into "evening gowns" (she also had a very vivid imagination). It isn't a coincidence, either, that sewing and construction share many of the same terms.
Judy grew up listening to her brother and brother-in-law talk about their construction companies at family dinners. Several of her nephews have gone into the business in various capacities and Judy has watched their development with pride.
While majoring in Interior Design in college, Judy met Sven and got her MRS degree first. She turned her love of sewing and her customer service talents into a career in the textile industry. She thoroughly enjoyed living vicariously through the designers she served by assisting them in procurring products for their designs, whether fine French laces for porcelain doll artisans, quality cotton fabrics for quilt and sewing shops or custom braids for large apparel manufacturers. The breadth and scope of the sources she acquired made Judy a 'first call' for anyone looking for the unusual. Even though she has been out of the industry for several years, Judy still receives calls and emails from people all over the country looking for products. She has kept a library of sources and is happy to help whenever possible.
Travelling the country with sample cases laiden with everything from appliques to zippers became increasingly complex after 9-11. Ol' Arthur Itis, as her Aunt Mary used to call her arthritis, came to stay with Judy too. The idea of travelling to cold and damp climes became less appealing as time went on.
Judy and Sven, with their Shi Tzu 'Peachy' live in Gilbert, named one of the fastest-growing and safest towns in the Nation. They also own properties in Mesa and Sun Lakes. Judy grew up in Southern California way before they ever coined the name "The O.C.". Sven hails from Stockholm, Sweden so they did a 16 year stint in Seattle amongst the American Scandinavians. They're both enjoying the friendly people and the mild winters of the Valley of the Sun and are here to stay.
